To make the most of its stunning location, this seaside house on the East Coast needed to be constructed to a very high standard with weather proof AluClad windows and doors.

For most people living close to the sea is a dream but for Donald and Jane it’s a reality.  They knew, when planning their dream home, that they wanted to be able to enjoy the sea views from as many vantage points as possible whether summer or winter.

Living on the Coast

After some research, the owners decided to engage Emmet Duggan Architects, to design a home for them that would achieve their dream home.

As an architect, Emmet, knew that living right on the coast brought more factors into play than the amazing panoramic views.

Seaside homes in Ireland are exposed to strong winds, storms, rain, and other natural elements all year long. The salt and spray can take its toll, and the best Aluclad windows and doors are crucial in protecting your home.

 

Windows & Doors for Harsh Weather

In designing this seaside home, Emmet focused on keeping the home and the structure safe while also maximizing natural light and the beautiful blue water views.

Having used Carlson previously, Emmet knew he could confidently recommend their AluClad range of windows and doors.

Being designed and manufactured in Denmark to cope with the harshest Scandinavian winters he knew they were tried and tested and could stand up to any type of Irish weather.

 

Natural Light & Beautiful Views

The owners wanted to take as much advantage of the natural light and views as possible.

So large Sliding Doors and windows were chosen, as these would bring ample light into the home’s living and dining space.  The architect also maximized the ceiling heights as another opportunity to take in the view through oversized windows in some of the rooms upstairs.

Being high performance energy efficient AluClad, they would not only make their home warm and cozy, no matter the weather outside but they would also require virtually no maintenance, apart from cleaning.

Front Entrance Door with a View

 

One of the most inviting features of this home is arriving at the front entrance door, which when opened gives you the most dramatic view through to the sea.

The house has been designed so that the rooms are located on either side of the house.  There are, therefore, no walls blocking the view from the front door to the sea.

Instead, the architect chose to put a very large sliding glass door.  So you get stunning views, no matter what time of the year, arriving home.

It is also practical as you can go straight through to the garden, should you wish.

 

Strong & Durable

The  beauty of Carlson’s AluClad windows and doors is that you have the benefit of a strong, durable exterior combined with the warmth and beauty of wood on the inside.

Choosing the colour Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) on the exterior the owners opted for Oyster White (RAL 1013) on the windows interior.

These colours give their beachfront home a light, bright and airy feel inside, making them very easy to live with.

Doors to the Garden

In the summertime, with so many Sliding Doors the family are steps away from the garden.

They love the long summer evenings, when they can slide open the doors to the garden, enjoying the view and breathe in the fresh seaside air.
