Safety Glass also known as Toughened or Laminated glass
Safety Glass
Safety glass is designed to protect against both injury and burglary, making it a key feature for modern, secure windows and doors. There are two main types of safety glass: toughened (tempered) glass and laminated glass;
- Toughened Glass (Tempered):
Up to 3.5 times stronger than standard glass, toughened glass is heat-treated to improve its strength. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt pieces, reducing the risk of serious injury. - Laminated Glass:
Made from two layers of glass bonded with a flexible plastic film, laminated glass stays intact even when broken, as the fragments remain stuck to the inner film. This not only enhances safety but also offers UV protection and helps prevent fading of interior furnishings.
Multi-Point Locking Systems
Carlson doors come with a high-performance multi-point locking system as standard, providing extra security and peace of mind.
This system locks the door at multiple points along the frame with a single turn of the key or thumb-turn. It not only enhances protection against forced entry but also ensures a tight, weatherproof seal.
Multi-point locks are widely recognised as one of the most secure and reliable door locking mechanisms available today.
Optional Safety & Ventilation Features
Childproof Restrictors
For added peace of mind, a childproof restrictor can be fitted to the bottom of the window. This safety feature helps prevent young children from fully opening the window and can be easily released by an adult when needed.
Air Vent
Carlson windows can be fitted with an optional air vent, designed to improve airflow without the need to open the window. The vent is simple to operate and allows for consistent ventilation throughout the day.
Night Vent Position
Our windows can also be installed with a night vent setting, allowing them to remain slightly ajar for airflow during the night—without compromising on security.
Lockable & Non-Lockable Window Handles
Carlson offers both lockable and non-lockable window handles to suit your security and building regulation needs.

Lockable handles are typically used on ground-floor windows to provide added security.

Non-lockable handles are recommended for upper-floor windows where easy opening is required for fire escape compliance.
