Warm Edge Technology - Spacer Bars

Warm Edge Technology refers to the type of Spacer Bar used to separate the panes of glass in insulated windows.

The panes of glass in any window whether double glazed or triple glazed must be held apart at the appropriate distance by a ‘spacer’ bar. Many manufacturers started using metal spacer bars. However, unfortunately metal, which conducts heat, transferred the heat from the inside of a building outside through this spacer bar, thereby reducing the benefits of improved glazing.  In addition to the increased heat loss, the colder edge is more prone to condensation.

At Carlson our manufacturers realized this and therefore introduced the innovative “Warm Edge Spacer Bar” to our windows and doors to ensure effective window insulation without reduced glazing.

Warm Edge Spacer Technology

  • provides better window insulation and
  • helps prevent condensation forming on the inside of the window.
  • by replacing the old style metal spacer bars with a synthetic material, the energy efficiency of a window is improved.
  • helps create energy saving windows which in turn saves you money.
  • the colour of the “warm edge” matches the colour of the glazing gasket to give a more harmonious appearance; and
  • glare from reflected sunlight is eliminated.

Carlson supply energy efficient windows using Low ‘E’ Argon filled glazed units on virtually all of our products.
