Double & Triple Glazing

Double Glazed Windows – Heat Loss & Energy Saving

A double glazed window consists of two panes of glass separated by an air gap or cavity. The two panes of glass are kept apart by “Spacer Bars” and the edges are hermetically sealed. The air gap or cavity provides the insulating layer that slows down the heat loss and reduces the opportunity for condensation to form. At Carlson we use the latest “Warm Edge Spacer Bar Technology”, as standard. This “Spacer Bar” creates an air gap or cavity.
The amount of heat lost through the windows and doors of a home can be as much as 30% of the total heat loss of the entire house. To save energy and improve comfort, old and badly fitting window frames should be replaced with energy efficient, double glazed windows.
Expertly designed, assembled and installed Carlson double glazed windows will significantly reduce energy usage. Modern energy efficient windows offer extraordinary thermal performance.

Replacement Double Glazed Windows - Pay Back

If replacement windows are being fitted then the extra cost of specifying and fitting energy efficient double glazed windows is small and the savings and benefits are significant.
Always choose replacement double glazed windows manufactured to the highest technical standards, along with the latest innovations available.
Carlson windows are manufactured in Denmark and provide comfort and warmth against the harsh Scandinavian winters.
It is estimated that in an average dwelling a replacement window will pay for itself in energy savings within six years

Triple Glazed Windows – Heat Loss & Energy Saving

Triple glazed windows consist of three sheets of glass. Each pane of glass is separated by a spacer bar, which creates an air gap or cavity. At Carlson we use the latest “Warm Edge Spacer Bar Technology”, as standard.
The air gaps or cavities provide the insulating layers that slow down the heat loss and reduce the opportunity for condensation to form. Air is a relatively good insulator but inert gases are much better due to their lower thermal conductivity. Therefore Carlson uses the inert gas, “Argon”, in our triple glazed units.
Expertly designed, assembled and installed, Carlson triple glazed windows will significantly reduce energy usage in a new dwelling.
In an existing house, if the external walls have little or no insulation, then it may be preferable to replace the existing windows with Double Glazed Windows.
Generally Triple Glazed Windows suits houses that have comprehensive insulation throughout to include the walls, roof etc. so that the benefit gained by the Triple Glazed Windows is not lost through other parts of the house.
